PTA

The PTA is a forum for parents and teachers from the ISL community to communicate, share information and concerns and support the school through raising funds. It brings parents and teachers together to communicate, foster goodwill and raise money through PTA organised events.

The PTA has an executive committee consisting of parents, teachers and a board member appointed by the Board of Governors. The executive committee is headed by the Chair, Mr Simon Foster. The current Treasurer is Mr. Victor Mushala. Elections for the positions of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are held every year at the Annual General Meeting. Meetings are held regularly in the ISL boardroom. usually on a monthly basis. Details of the meetings are sent out via the school email list of parents, Board members and other interested parties.

The Role of the PTA

The role of the PTA is as follows:

The PTA is a place where parents can talk to teachers about issues that concern them.
The PTA builds links between parents through social events such as the welcome braai.
The PTA is also involved in assisting with ISAZ events, primary productions, inter-house events and the annual art exhibition.
The PTA plays a major role in raising funds for special school projects. This is through events such as the Splash Carnival and the Ultramaration. These events have paid for the school tuckshop building, the swimming pool stand and the jungle gym in the primary school playground.

Join Us

The PTA is open to all parents. In fact, the success of the PTA depends on parents being involved and playing an active role. If you would like to take part, you are welcome to attend the next meeting on the 1st Tuesday of every month in the ISL Boardroom at 13.00 hours (1.00 pm). Attending the meeting does not mean you have to participate in fundraising events. You can choose to be as involved as much (or as little) as you wish. Alternatively, contact the current Chair directly via the email link to the right or speak directly to your class representative.
