Welcome to the Secondary School at the International School of Lusaka. ISL offers the combination of challenging academic programmes with extensive extra-curricular opportunities in order to meet the cognitive, social, emotional, ethical and physical needs of its students.
Secondary School is an important and challenging time of transition in a child's life. At ISL, students are exposed to a wide variety of subjects and activities to ensure that they are better prepared for the expectations placed upon them by the High School IGCSE and IBDP Programmes.
Students from over 50 nationalities are challenged, supported and nurtured by a team of internationally experienced, highly qualified educators enabling young aspiring adults to achieve their full potential as responsible global citizens. Our teachers are committed to providing purposeful and engaging classroom learning experiences, which foster a genuine desire to learn.
The secondary school academic programme blends together 3 internationally recognized curricula to provide students with a comprehensive and coherent educational experience. This includes the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in Years 7, 8, 9, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Years 10 and 11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12 and 13.
At ISL, students can also enjoy a wide array of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including day and residential field trips, leadership and adventure camps, a wide variety of clubs and activities and a variety of sporting events including Inter-School House competitions and after schools sports.
AT ISL we believe in the importance of providing learning opportunities beyond the classroom. To this end, the ISL Community Service programme provides our students with experiences that develop a mind-set that sees education as open-ended, on-going and not institutionally bound.
By developing an appreciation for the diversity within ISL community we aim to engender in all our students the individual, community and global awareness which nurtures a sense of social responsibility and the desire to act and make real changes to the world we live in.
