A great start to the school year 2017-2018!
Each year, meeting students both old and new brings in excitement and cheer. Several of the students had wonderful things to report after their first day and first week at school. Our new teachers Dominique Delpech (Year4), Jenny van der Vinne (Year 6), Kambole Chizyuka (Learning Support), Sarah Burns (Year 1) and Brigitte Suda (Preschool) are already feeling at home with the children and are very excited to be a part of the ISL community.
The PYP Induction program hosted in the first week was a great occasion to meet new parents. We (the IBPYP Coordinator and I) hope they had a glimpse of how teaching is facilitated at our school using the Primary Years Program (PYP). PYP parent workshops will be held for all parents during the course of the year, and we look forward to seeing you all there.
Open House held the second week back was a huge success, and the teachers and I had a wonderful opportunity to meet everybody. Meeting parents brings great pleasure as we strongly believe we all work together as a team for the benefit of our students. Thank you to all the parents for taking such a keen interest in their child’s education.
Another “Thank you” to all the parents who have agreed to become Class Parent Representatives (CPR's). This role will facilitate improved communication and help make new friends amongst the parents in your class! I would also like to thank the parents who are on the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as they work together to make the school a better place. Plans for the Carnival are already underway.
The Welcome Braai hosted by the PTA later today (September 1st) is a fabulous opportunity to get together and know more of each other! See you there!
Until we meet again,
