Public Relations and Marketing Manager

This is a new outward-facing, full time position. Public Relations and Marketing Manager will market the school, assist with events, and use events as passive marketing. This will be compensated sufficiently to attract an individual with the requisite initiative, creativity and motivation to market the school effectively. The Public Relations and Marketing Manager will work closely with the other outward-facing role in the organization, the Admissions Officer and will report to the Head of School.

Responsibilities

The Public Relations and Marketing Manager is responsible for the design and implementation of a varied set of events to enrich students’ lives and strengthen the school community. These should include athletic, academic, cultural and creative events.

He/she is also responsible for improving the school’s public profile by securing participation in and publicity for school events and activities and by producing and distributing marketing materials. School events should be seen as passive marketing opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing, or Public Relations
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Marketing or Public Relations

Specifics

  • Leads the organization of major school events in collaboration with designated event leaders
  • Collaborates with the Athletics Director in publicising sports events; sees events as a passive marketing opportunity
  • Works with and supervises the admissions officer; sees admissions as a marketing opportunity
  • Collaborates with the board marketing committee.
  • Liaises with civil society/embassies/government
  • Collaborates in admissions-related publicity and marketing
  • Collaborates in maintaining the content of the school website and Facebook feed.
  • Leads outreach to alumni
  • Designs and produces marketing, advertising and promotional materials
  • Publicises scholarship awards
  • Sees the school’s strong service-learning programme as an opportunity to create relationships
  • Open days organization and publicity
  • Advertising and marketing of facilities (in collaboration with FinMan)
  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Marketing or Zambia Public Relations Association

Teachers

The International School of Lusaka is one of the oldest and largest international schools in Africa. Applicants for all the positions must have a minimum of the following:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution
  • A teaching qualification from an accredited provider
  • At least two years of relevant teaching experience
