Academic Positions

The International School of Lusaka is looking for a qualified and experienced teacher for the following position in August, 2019:

Athletics Director and Activities Coordinator

 Responsibilities

  • To develop and lead the PE department throughout the school (Nursery to Year 13).
  • To develop a variety of sports through the curriculum and extracurricular activities.
  • To enthuse students with confidence and the spirit of good sportsmanship and competition.
  • To host and accompany teams for home and away matches and to represent ISL in a positive manner in all fixtures.
  • To organise, monitor and evaluate school sporting events
  • To act as a liaison with ISAZ and other relevant organisations

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject from recognized institution
  • A recognised teaching qualification (preferably degree or post-graduate)
  • Two or more years teaching experience at an appropriate level
  • Experience in an international school with International Baccalaureate, (IBPYP & IBDP) and/or IGCSE & IMYC highly desired.

Student Support Services Teacher: Head of Department

The Students Support Services department oversees the educational development of ISL students who have special educational needs. This includes students who require Learning Support, those in our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) programme, and GAT (Gifted and Talented) students .

As a teacher/HoD, the candidate

  • conducts or administers initial admission testing/diagnostic evaluation of learning needs  
  • is responsible for planning, monitoring, assessing and reviewing student progress
  • works with the external specialists/classroom teachers to design individualized educational plans, considering different teaching approaches, support materials and ICT
  • oversees professional development both within the SSS department and for all teachers

Qualifications

The applicants must have a minimum of the following:

  • Bachelor Degree in the relevant subject area from a recognized institution
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • At least two years teaching experience in a school which implements an international curricula (IBO, Cambridge, Fieldwork etc)

Secondary School - IB Diploma, IGCSE & IMYC Programme subject teachers:

  1. English Teacher
  2. Economics Teacher

Qualifications

The applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject area from a recognized institution
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • At least two years teaching experience at an appropriate level
  • Experience in IB programmes (PYP & DP), IGCSE and/or IMYC will be a definite advantage
